Arts Lab 5.0: Aliye Ceylan, Turkey - Month 5

Imagine
One of the most important issues in the past month was Haşmet, the 12th member of our house. 🐾He is a fat and extremely cute cat who is addicted to food.🫠  I put him name.  He injured his neck twice because he kept going and fighting with other cats.  Finally we had to take him to the doctor and he got stitches.  I hope we will neuter him in about a week.🙏 As for the business issue, we opened our 3rd exhibition.  The subject of our exhibition was the Jewish massacre.  It was an emotionally heavy exhibition for me.  We worked with visually impaired children for this exhibition.  That's why it was so much more meaningful.  Afterwards, we went to Bucharest for the first time for mid-term.  We attended a 3-day training.  Afterwards, we took advantage of our free time.  I think we walked around Bucharest with my volunteer friend from another project.  From there I went to Brașov and finally saw Bran Castle, which I have been wanting to see for a long time.  I came back with a lot of

Now that I came back from Bolivia, I was scared to not adapt to the rhythm of Art Lab again. But in reality this project is always challenging this type of mentality because there’s no room for doubt, here everything is action.  In that sense the next day of my return we went to a caravan to a village and I helped a bit with social media. Meanwhile my friends were presenting for the last time workshops with the subject of Cucuteni. It was very fun and we also met people that made the best wine we ever tried. After that we went to see a church that was getting painted which I never thought I would see. To see the sketches of a church in progress was one of the most interesting experiences.  In general it was such a nice experience to get back to the rhythm.  The same week we had the exhibition of victims of the Holocaust, the Jemom Museum. I wasn’t here in Romania meanwhile they were doing the investigation part so Mihaela recommended me to focus more on the lgbtq+ part of the genocide.

Arts Lab 5.0: Hajer Ben Hadj Sghaier, Tunisia - Month 5

Imagine
In the fifth month of volunteering in Romania, I traveled with my group to Bucharest for the midterm training, and we stayed in a hotel with other volunteers from various organizations. After that, I traveled with my friends to other places in Bucharest to discover the sights. We went to Sinaia, one of the most beautiful places in Romania, where there is a great palace, a wonderful monastery, and an ancient church. We also visited many museums. Also, in this month, we went to Pașcani to learn traditional Romanian dance from a professor. I should also mention that we hosted four cultural nights: Bolivian, English, Turkish, and Ukrainian. It was truly amazing, almost like traveling through these countries. Furthermore, we visited a special artist who has a great museum in his house. He has many amazing canvases depicting Van Gogh in his village, Jesus or God. I will never forget this moment. Yes, also in this month, I did a residency at a school focusing on Rroma culture. It was really n

Ups, I’m here again. I’m still not aware of the months that we spent all together in Romania. I feel like we are still in the beginning and there is a lot to go. But anyway, it is better to focus on the moment and enjoy it.  When it comes to the things that happened this month, I should say that it happened a lot! We started the month with an intense day. We visited the Jewish museum in Iași and got informed more about the Jewish people and the Holocaust. I should confess that the things that I learned there really touched me. After having this sad experience we went to the celebration of minorities event which changed our mood. We met with a lot of Rroma people and watched their amazing performances. We also did a short performance on the stage about our countries, which was fun. While all of these things were happening, we also gave an interview to the national TV. So we continue to gain fame across the Iaşi :’)  At the end of the day, we went to a dance school documented some artist
