Arts Lab 5.0: Ahmed Hakmi, Morocco - Month 5

It's truly heart-wrenching to realize that my time in this incredible house, where I've created countless beautiful memories, is coming to an end. It's also difficult to fathom saying goodbye to people whom I never imagined I would meet and develop such incredible bonds with just five months ago. 💔

However, I’ll enjoy these days till it’s time to leave this amazing atmosphere. Anyway. This month started with a caravan in Ceplenița. It was a day full of joy because we meet too many students and we visited some places near the village, also we had the chance to learn a little bit about decorating or sewing the Romanian traditional clothes. and after few days we made a surprise birthday party to Hassan.

During that week, I was still going to Moldova School to finish the mural, which is the best murals for me so far even tough it was in stressful time for me. And unfortunately, I wasn’t able to be a part of the JEMOM exhibition.

After that, we had to leave Târgu Frumos for a week to Bucharest, for the Mid-term. And when I first arrived, the first thing that impressed me was the amount of the amazing graffiti and murals paintings in the city. The next day we started the Mid-term where we meet all the volunteers that are doing voluntary work here in Romania. I was so happy to share and hear about other projects in the country. The shocking part was meeting two other Moroccans from my city that are also doing voluntary work here, and also too many other nationalities. We spent a good time sharing our experiences here.

I really liked an activity from the Mid-term where they asked us to go do some tasks in the city center, where we had to visit some museums and see the university square and also to interview some of the locals. It was amazing, but unfortunately the weather was so cold, and we couldn’t stay longer outside.

We Dajana, Hassan, Carla and Sena decided to stay three more days in Bucharest after the mid-term ended. To better explore the city. And there, finally I had the chance to eat halal meat and to try the Lebanese food. The next day I tried one of the most beautiful experiences in my life, going to the Therme Bucharest. It was a breathtaking place, and I would definitely go back there when I visit the city again. in our stay there we visited to many amazing places, like Van Gogh cafe, Ateneul Român, Muzeul Național de Artă and many more places.

Then, we went back to Târgu Frumos and these days we were working on our personal projects for the Rroma museum and also doing workshops in Ion Creangă school. We also had 4 cultural nights, the Bolivian, Turkish 😋, English and the Ukrainian.

Ahmed Hakmi is from Morocco and he's doing six months volunteering in our organisation, within Arts Lab 5.0, a project co-funded by the European Union through the European Solidarity Corps.
