Arts Lab 3.0.: Kubra Akarsu - Exploring Romanian Culture

The month of November has been a really busy and beautiful month in every sense. I started with a trip to Bucharest and this month I visited the cities of Braşov and Sibiu. So far my favorite Romanian city is Braşov. Dracula castle was the place I knew before I came to Romania. And finally I saw it with my own eyes.

This month, we had the chance to go to ''Ion Creangă'' School and share our culture with Roma children and learn about their culture. We danced and played games together. It is really valuable for me that many children there love Turkish culture and share the words they learned from the TV series with me. There was even a Zeybek show!

The subject of our next exhibition is Cucuteni. And we also want to create a Cucuteni Alternative Museum within our own means. The theme of Cucuteni was included in all the activities we did this month.

We continued working with Mr. Ciobanu on Cucuteni shapes and villages. We visited the Cucuteni museums in Iaşi with local volunteers. And we started planning for this project. We studied and watched documentaries about Cucuteni. For the website, our make-up artist, Krista drew amazing Cucuteni symbols on our faces, and our media artist, Leire took and edited our photos. The whole team had different Cucuteni symbols coming out of a single line and it was really a team job! (I love working with these girls :)) Although I feel lucky to be a part of this project, I have some fears because it feels like a dream. But I am sure that I will overcome these fears after we connect all our work.

To conclude, now I enjoy Romanian lessons more and I feel more belonging here after every Romanian words I learn.
