Dissemination Events: Sports Activator in Barcelona, Spain

Ashta Amorós Abelló organised a dissemination event for Sports Activator project in Barcelona, Spain. Her activity involved 26 people between 4-14 years that were divided in three groups. The first group was composed by children between 4 to 5 years. Ashta played different games with them, such as: make a fruit salad, games with a ball, a game where they had to point at different colors, hide and seek. Afterwards, she taught them the name of different fruits and vegetables and they sang some songs together.

The second group was composed by children between 7 to 9 years. This group played the clapping game as an ice-breaker, the 1 to 7 game and musical chairs. They learnt some new vegetables and fruits. Also, they discussed about healthy lifestyle. For another activity she gave them a piece of paper with YES written on it and another with NO written on it. Then they had 10 minutes to write different things they should and shouldn’t do to have a healthy lifestyle. Afterwards, they discussed each topic and Ashta asked them to raise their hands if they were doing it or had something to say about it. Things like, brushing your teeth, sleep 8 or more hours, eat veggies on a regular basis, exercise every day etc.

The final activity was “Make your own healthy Menu”. With the last group, that had children between 12 to 14, she did some of the same ice-breakers as the other group. Then they created a graphic to learn about how much they’re doing to have a healthy lifestyle. After that they discussed the topics and played the TRUE or FALSE game about some nutrition and healthy lifestyle myths.

Sports Activator is co-funded by Erasmus+ Sport Programme, with the support of the European Union.

Sports Activator project had two main meetings in Romania, which involved more than 70 participants from 8 countries and different communities. We managed to gather together sport teachers, trainers, youth workers, volunteers, coaches, people involved in sport clubs and different participants with various backgrounds in the sports field.

One of the meetings objectives was to create a toolbox with helpful information about a healthy lifestyle, nutrition, physical activity, games and methods that can contribute to decrease the rate of physical inactivity among youngsters. Everybody contributed to this brochure with personal experience, examples of good practice, games and methods that they have already tried and worked very well among the young people.

After the international mobilities, the participants had the mission to share their learning achievements by facilitating international sports events in their local communities. So far 20 offline and online events were organised, in Spain, Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria, that involved 659 participants.
