Arts Lab 3.0: Krista Lipska - Cucuteni

Imagine
November for me started with coming back from Latvia and still enjoying aftertaste from seeing family and visiting home. As soon as I came back, we went to see 2 Cucuteni museums in Iași, learning more about this culture and getting inspiration, ideas for work on our own museum. The museum of ''Alexandru Ioan Cuza'' University was really impressive and pieces were nicely exhibited, placed the most flattering way, so interest can be hold and built up through whole exhibition. After seeing historical heritage of Cucuteni culture it was about the time to start working on pieces, ideas, sketches and visions, so one of my contribution pieces was creating face paintings for all involved artists. I was glad that I had an opportunity to work on creating themed and connecting recognizable markings for whole team.  As well continuing work with Mr. Ciobanu always is a pleasure and well spent time. He is really inspiring artist with sparkling energy overflowing him and fulfilling s

On 11/11 I turned 22. I spent the first hours of my day making tortilla de patata for Mr. Ciobanu and his family, as we spent the morning at their place. Our visit to their place was incredibly peaceful, as always, and we had such a great time. For lunch we had tortilla and baklava, two of my favorite things to eat. I spent the afternoon at home, resting. When I came downstairs to clean the plate I used for my popcorn, I saw the local volunteers entering our house. I was so shocked. We had an amazing afternoon chatting and eating the things I had received from my family on a package that day. It felt really good to be together, and I felt really grateful. The girls and I also became the mums of two cats. They brought happiness to our home and our lives. At the beginning we were a bit worried that they would not get along. The fought for some days in a row, but after that, they started to play and take care of each other. On the 20th, some local volunteers invited me to play basketball

Arts Lab 3.0.: Kubra Akarsu - Exploring Romanian Culture

Imagine
The month of November has been a really busy and beautiful month in every sense. I started with a trip to Bucharest and this month I visited the cities of Braşov and Sibiu. So far my favorite Romanian city is Braşov. Dracula castle was the place I knew before I came to Romania. And finally I saw it with my own eyes. This month, we had the chance to go to ''Ion Creangă'' School and share our culture with Roma children and learn about their culture. We danced and played games together. It is really valuable for me that many children there love Turkish culture and share the words they learned from the TV series with me. There was even a Zeybek show! The subject of our next exhibition is Cucuteni. And we also want to create a Cucuteni Alternative Museum within our own means. The theme of Cucuteni was included in all the activities we did this month.  We continued working with Mr. Ciobanu on Cucuteni shapes and villages. We visited the Cucuteni museums in Iaşi with local vol

In October we opened our exhibition with excitement and effort. We worked, we got tired, but we enjoyed it. It was a pleasure to present my works about Târgu Frumos. During the exhibition, we made an opening speech, explaining and giving information about our works and creative process. We also did short workshops at the same time. In my case, I asked the visitors to paint Târgu Frumos on a ceramic tile, connecting them to the subject of our exhibition. After the exhibition, we went to Cucuteni. I met there Ionela Sandrina Mihuleac, an amazing ceramist. After seeing Cucuteni and meeting its artists, I had new ideas. It helped me to form a new perspective for the Alternative Cucuteni Museum - a new exhibition we work on. Cucuteni is a peaceful world in lush nature, whereas artists can only think and produce. The perfect studio, in an immaculate nature... This month we visited Gheorghe Ciobanu once per week, in his 2-story studio made entirely of wood. A warm atmosphere welcomed us. It w

Arts Lab 3.0: Krista Lipska - my first exhibition

October came and the exhibition opening was looking straight on us, so last preparation works, the best execution you can give to artwork for being brought into the audience and getting ready to present accomplishment in front of a public, to share the meaning behind, to inspire. For me, this was my first exhibition as a body painter, so I am glad that I had this opportunity because the opening was really good and visitors took us in with open arms and minds, enjoyed interactive parts, and gave us quite a lot of feedback on our creations.  Another positive piece was that we finally started learning from Mr. Ciobanu to paint so we can move to our next exhibition and collaborate on the topic of Cucuteni. Interacting with the painter brought a fresh feeling of inspiration, interaction, and energy going back and forth. Communicating, learning and breaking down boundaries to create something out of my comfort zone allowed me to step aside a bit and enter different horizons for self-explorin

October was the month for me to adapt to the project, the country, and new people. We started with a busy period at the beginning of October. We prepared an exhibition with our other teammates by working on artworks depicting our personal idea about what is beautiful in Târgu Frumos, translated as ''Beautiful Fair Town''. By presenting our products to local volunteers, we understood each other better and got good feedback.  Right after, we visited the Cucuteni museum to gather more information about Cucuteni, the subject of the next exhibition we will prepare. This month, I met an artist and went to his house, and started participating in activities on drawing.  We organized a final exhibition for the Butea school, where the organisation did workshops for a long time. This event was an important one both for us and for the children we work with. Exhibiting the artworks they produced with us reinforced their creativity and self-confidence In this event, which we held wit
