Arts Lab 4.0: Month I, Cihan - Lucky

Imagine
I came to Romania about 5 weeks ago to work as a volunteer in Art Lab 4th team. We are working as eight different artists in this project. Everyone produces works in other branches of art. I feel very lucky to get to know these wonderful people and to collaborate with them on art productions. The time passed really productively and quickly. We visited various exhibitions, museums, different cities and had the opportunity to get to know Romanian culture. Apart from these, we organized various workshops at Petru Rareș high-school. We met a lot of new people. We also organize nights of different cultures every week, our first night was about Romania. We learned dances, music, food, traditional stories in this night. Another event was the Spanish night, we got to know Spanish culture, tasted traditional food and drinks, got information about Madrid. We are currently working on alternative museums and folkloric works. I am learning Romanian culture and folk songs. I will make a Romanian mus

Arts Lab 4.0: Month I, Maja Mörchen - A house full of life and music

Imagine
When I arrived in Târgu Frumos on the evening of the 12th of September, I was greeted by Mihaela and Wasan, my roommate who arrived on the same day. Arriving at the youth center I also met the other volunteers, Federica, Sara, and Yavuzhan. They all made me feel welcomed and at home. The next day we immediately started working, preparing workshops about Cucuteni culture for a group of 50 international students and teachers. It was a bit hard because I didn’t know anything about that topic before but I’m happy with the result and the positive feedback from the group. During that time I also got to meet my mentor, Larisa, and learned my first words in Romanian. The next week Cihan arrived and we had our On-Arrival training. We would have preferred to have it in person but still, we not only learned about ESC but also got to know other volunteers from other projects. Later we even visited two of them in Sovata. On that trip, we also stopped by Lacul Rosu and Sibiu (or Hermannstadt), where

Youthpass competences in Arts Lab 3.0 - Leire Saenz Quevedo

Sometimes the final evaluation reports don't show us very clear what our volunteers learned during their volunteering experience in our organisation, this is the reason we go to check the extended Youthpass certificates.  Here is the learning journey in Arts Lab 3.0 of Leire.  KEY COMPETENCES Based on the EU framework for Key Competences for lifelong learning (2018). MULTILINGUAL COMPETENCE During my ESC project, the language I used the most was English. Even though I considered myself quite fluent before starting this experience, using it for nine months made me improve my English. I especially improved my spoken English. Throughout the months I spent in Romania, I learned Romanian from scratch, which was really important for me, since I saw it as a way of better understanding the place and the people I was surrounded by, who had welcomed me with open arms from the very beginning. We had Romanian lessons almost every week, but there was a lot of learning that came from interacting

KEY COMPETENCES Based on the EU framework for Key Competences for lifelong learning (2018). MULTILINGUAL COMPETENCE   During this project I improved my English, as well writing and articles. I learned a little bit of Romanian language, so mostly I can understand what people around me are saying and being able to answer some basic questions in Romanian. Another thing that I learned to do better through this project is writing articles in English, to explain myself better and find an understanding between different level English speakers adapting myself to needs. I improved my listening skills, so I can communicate properly with my team and local volunteers, as were other people who were participating in A

Arts Lab 4.0: Month I, Wasan Abusummaqah - Learning about myself

Imagine
It’s been a month since I’ve began my volunteering journey here in Târgu Frumos, Romania. I have a lot of emotions and new feelings that I experienced here. Being in a new country with a new culture and new people is always challenging and overwhelming, especially if you are not used of getting out of your comfort zone, but for me it is something I love to do. Since I came here, I knew there is still good in life, no matter how much bad days and bad moments life shows you, there will always be better days. Romanian people know the meaning of hospitality and kindness, and they act upon it. There wasn’t a moment where I felt like an exile, in fact I always feel like I’m at home.  Since I applied to be a part of this project, I had a lot of expectations and goals, other than it being about something I love and enjoy doing, which is art, I had in mind that I want to create new connections and new friendships, and it indeed happened! I never imagined that I could relate to people in such li
