Arts Lab 5.0: Hajer Ben Hadj Sghaier, Tunisia - Month 3

Imagine
In the third month of volunteering in Romania, I experienced many interesting and exciting events, the most important of which is the Egyptian Cultural Night. There, I tried Egyptian cuisine for the first time in my life, especially Elmahchi and Mesakaa. It was also a good opportunity to get to know more about the local volunteers. On the other hand, I introduced my country, Tunisia, and our cultural diversity, history, and presented some dishes from the Tunisian kitchen, such as Couscous, Mloukhiya, Brik, and Rfisa. I also went with Carla and Dajana to shoot in the forest. The weather was cold to death, and there are no words to describe it, but we were able to complete the filming, and the results were wonderful. We also carried out an activity in school about the Cucuteni civilization. It was a good meeting, and the children loved imagining and drawing ceramics and vases. The place outside was very beautiful, covered with snow, and we had a lot of fun. This month, we also prepared t

In November was the final event at Petru Rareș school where we gave the students certificates and got to revisit the art works we made together. It was the harvest festival so we got involved in traditional dances and there was autumnal decoration and food.  The most memorable moment of this month was definitely the week we spent in Moldova on the caravan. This was a very intense week where on the one hand we got to explore many new interesting places, meet new people and grow our experience, whilst on the other hand this week was very full on and tiring and it’s safe to say we came back to ACT house very glad to have a few days off! In Moldova there were many moments where I loved being with the girls as we had fun together traveling around in the van and the situations we found ourselves in (good or bad) for sure brought us all closer together. For me, one of the most beautiful moments was visiting a monastery in a cave at nightfall. The cave was lit by candles and a single monk was

This month has been very good for me. It all started when my friends went to Moldova while Hassan, Ahmed, and I stayed home to think and work on our personal projects. I began the process of writing the lyrics for a Cucuteni song. It was a bit challenging since it wasn't the first song I had written for Cucuteni, but I love writing songs, so I was enjoying my time. It took me five hours of direct focus to write the lyrics. Next, I moved on to the part I love, which is creating the melody or rhythm for the lyrics. Sometimes I make the melody while I am writing, or after I finish writing the song. Regardless, on the second day after completing the lyrics, I went to our ceramic studio to record the song. It took about two hours. On the same day, Hassan and I were preparing for the Egyptian night, so I couldn't work on the song. The following day, I started working on my favorite part, mixing and mastering the song with the instrumental. I finished it, but I had to make some edits,

Arts Lab 5.0: Hassan Ghonim, Egypt - Month 3

Imagine
We completed the second project on the Cucuteni civilization, and it was a very enjoyable experience. I learned about the Cucuteni civilization, their lives, and arts for the first time. The artistic production of the team was great, and I'm proud of what we achieved. My friend Muhammad and I organized an Egyptian Cultural Day. We invited friends of different ages here in Romania, and we all had a lot of fun. Muhammad and I shared interesting facts, pictures, and videos about Egyptian culture, including historical places, tourist attractions, cities, popular foods, clothing, arts, dances, and ancient Egyptians. We danced together, played some games, and simulated some aspects of Egyptian culture. It was a delightful and beautiful day. We also surprised our friend Aliye on her birthday, and it was fun, beautiful, and emotional time for all of us. Hassan Mohamed Fathi Mostafa Ghonim is from Egypt, and he is participating in a six-month volunteering program within Arts Lab 5.0, a pro

I think this month was the busiest month so far.  We went to Moldova for 5 days for the Caravan event. 5 days, 5 different places and schools, hundreds of students… To be honest, it was a very tiring event, but I think we managed it somehow.🙈 We organized workshops and contacted a lot of children and youth.  And we got very good feedback.  I think we were able to make them love art a little bit.🎬 🎶🎨 We went to the Orheiul Vechi region.  We visited the open air museum, which is still under construction.  It was very impressive to be among the first to see that area.  Then we went to many more villages and finally to the center of Chișinău.  Then we returned to our house. I call it our home because Romania has become like our home now 💜. We all noticed this on the way back.  We experienced that feeling of relief after being home. 🙏 And of course we are running out of time here.  We are right in the middle of the project.  Time flies so fast.  This makes me feel bad sometimes.  We s

Wow, we ended the third month, which I really cannot believe. And now I’m here to write about the most exhausting but fulfilling month ever!  The third month again started with the photo session for the catalog for the Cucuteni Museum. We went to the Cucuteni and hiked to the hill, the view was amazing. I made some face paintings with Cucuteni patterns for my friends. Since it was really cold, I had some hard times about it, but we spent a nice day there. Then we visited the student club in our neighborhood. Gisela, her colleagues, and the kids performed music for us, as well as my friends. And we met some students from the Moldova school, the school for the next art residency. One of the girls from that school sang some songs and it really touched my soul. I had been really curious about the connection that we will build between us so I was looking forward to meeting with them.  Then the most exhausting week of the project came, the Moldova caravan! We left some of our friends in the
