Arts Lab 5.0: Hassan Ghonim, Egypt - Month 1

Imagine
At Târgu Frumos, I embarked on a month-long volunteering opportunity as a photographer, delving into the vibrant world of Romanian culture and folklore. My volunteering opportunity revolved around three significant events that celebrated the essence of Romanian culture and folklore. Each event offered a unique perspective on the country's rich heritage, with a particular focus on its traditional clothing, food, music and kindness. From the intricate patterns to the vibrant colors, these costumes were a visual feast for the eyes.  During my stay in Târgu Frumos, I had the privilege of immersing myself in the heart of Romanian green landscape. How this green is so amazing! Also living in Târgu Frumos allowed me to interact with the locals and witness their daily lives, which greatly enriched my understanding of the culture.  My exploration extended beyond Târgu Frumos, leading me to the historic cities and villages of Iași, Pașcani, and Todirești. These journeys introduced me to the

I've been in Romania for about a month now. I think I've adapted quickly to an experience that I came with a lot of excitement. The process until I arrived wore me out a lot. I am the last volunteer to come to Târgu Frumos. But my other volunteer friends, whom I had not met face to face before I arrived, motivated me a lot. They told me that I would have no problem coming and that they were waiting for me here. When I came home, I saw the sign 'Welcome home Aliye'. They welcomed me very warmly.  12 different people... Also, when I told them that my English was not good enough yet, they said that it was never a problem for them and they would help me. They were always understanding. I don't think I will have this experience anywhere else. The first month was spent for me to organise and adapt. Frankly speaking, I think that the ease of my adaptation process was thanks to the friendliness of the Romanian people. We went to many villages, towns and cities within a mont

Arts Lab 5.0: Rafael Raețchi, R. of Moldova - Month 1

Imagine
After one month of involvement in the Arts Lab 5.0 project, I have managed to help implement a range of the project’s planned activities. The production of 5 interviews with local artists, the implementation of 3 workshops and a small contribution in the Folcloristica Festival. Also partook in the recording of over 10 interviews, all of which, ideally, will be edited in the following month. During this month I have managed to connect with the participants of the project on a peer-to-peer level. In the following report, I will go in a clearer detail on the mentioned above aspects and more.  Despite time and budget restraints, our team and I managed to implement the planned activities efficiently during the last month. During this month I have implemented 3 workshops. I would describe two of them successful, while the third one offered me better insight into how I want to organise my workshops. The first workshop, at Folcloristica Festival, was on the fundamentals of animation. The works

Arts Lab 5.0: Olha Popova, Ukraine - Month 1

This month was… interesting. I didn’t even realize, that it passed. Firstly, I was figuring out how to live with so many people in one house and a roommate. I'm still in the process, to be honest. Who will cook? How to clean? How to get rid of annoying flies? How to go to the shop? Will we hang out together? Some of them are still questions. We all have different levels of English, sometimes it's the problem, but usually we are helping each other, so it's another way to bond. For all of the people, who will experience something like this, I want you to know: there will be arguments. I'm aware that you read it all the time, but I assume, that you think, that you will be calm and professional about this. But here is one fact that I wasn't thinking about before: you will live together. It's not like living in a dormitory, it's more like having 11 siblings. So be prepared, but don't be scared. You got this.   We got a dog. Just a puppy, he has been with us f
